High-Level Design Walkthrough

Issues addressed

  • “Which high-level interactive and creative models would be best for our target market? What are the potential high-level and detailed design issues?”
  • “Can our early design concept compete against our primary competitors?”

Your challenge: Our product looks nice, but will it feel nice?

You have a high-level design concept that sounds good on paper and tests well in marketing focus groups. But before investing, you need more assurance that the concept will work when it is built into a working product.

My solution for your project

I employ techniques that allow end-users to feel your end-product concept as early as possible so they can give feedback that matters. I can also use the walkthrough methodology to evaluate high-level issues in your existing product, or to test your early design concept head-to-head against your competition in an apples-to-apples comparison.

While the primary purpose is to evaluate user-acceptance, valuable information is also gathered to refine the design as needed.

  • I work with your product teams to develop the necessary static and partially-interactive prototypes that represent your product concepts. We work to ensure they have a solid foundation in technical reality.
  • I evaluate the concept prototypes using User-Centered dDesign walkthroughs. The walkthrough is group-session with multiple end-users rigorously sampled from your product's target market. It is not another focus group, but is a structured behaviorally-based evaluation based on your product's key usage scenarios.
  • Both qualitative and quantitative information is gathered on an individual-user and on a group-basis to provide a thorough analysis of your proposed product.

My service provides excellent scientific research design, representative end-user samples, unbiased and effective presentation of your proposed interactive design, thorough data collection, valid and reliable data, and the effective use of statistics. These are all necessary to provide you with quality information to make well–informed decisions about your early design concepts.

My background

I have been a central team member in several large software projects that have used these techniques. They really do provide information that is key to go/no-go funding decisions for high level design concepts and for refining those concepts, but they have to be done well.
